Jelly Toast

a fondue party with quaker big chewy bars

For the last three years, my sister-in-law and two nieces have traveled during their Spring break, all the way out to Ohio, to spend the week with us. It’s pretty much the highlight of my kiddos’ year.
Their big, grown up cousins come and shower them with gobs of love and affection, not mention they allow the kiddos free reign to play with all the electronic gadgets they bring with them.  All of this awesomeness pretty much adds up to the coolest cousins a couple of Preschoolers could ask for.

Seriously, they rock.

Every year, I try to come up with some new and creative things for us to do during our visits. These activities usually involve going to museums, shows, shopping (they are teenage girls, after all) and lots and lots of amazing food. It is crazy fun having two little foodies in the family. This year, I thought it would be a blast to have our very own fondue party.
Who doesn’t love delicious stuff dipped into more delicious stuff?
I went about gathering dippers for our little fun-due party (get it?) and was thrilled when I came across Quaker Big Chewy Granola Bars. If you’ve never tried them, you’re in for a serioustreat.
They’re 60% bigger (by weight) and have 30% more chocolate chips than the previous recipe. These scrumptious Big Chewy Bars are finished off with a chocolaty drizzle, making them a brilliant and wholesome alternative to brownies or pound cake.
The fact that the Chocolate Chip Big Chewy Bars have 14 g of whole grains per serving is definitely something that I can feel good about. We’re all about the whole grains over here.

This fondue party was a hugehit. It’s not always easy finding things that a 3 year old and a 15 year old will both enjoy, but this fondue party was definitely one of them.

It’s fun, yet sophisticated, and with the addition of the Quaker Big Chewy Bars, a wholesome treat that had us all feeling quite satisfied.

I opted to whip up the chocolate fondue (recipe below) on the stove top and serve it in small individual bowls. This served two purposes: remove the flame for safety around a 3 year old and open the door to some serious double dipping.

Win win.
