Phoenix part 2: a farm to table lunch
This has been a summer of travel for our family. Between week long trips as well as weekend trips, it seems as if we’ve been packing and unpacking suitcases since the beginning of June. A few weeks ago, I shared a bit about our trip to Phoenix, but I have a little bit more to share! One of the most memorable experiences while in Phoenix was attending a Farm to Table lunch, right at the resort we where were staying. It started off with a tour of the resort’s herb and vegetable garden (fancy!) and ended with a rustic and satisfying meal made with produce and herbs directly from the garden. Our guide, Melissa, was incredibly knowledgable about the climate and needs of the various plants. I was too busy taking pictures to absorb as much as I would have liked – eek. I need to pay better attention next time. Because I totally want there to be a next time. This was a fantastic afternoon. Hot, but fantastic. And then the lunch! First of all, the restaurant where we dined was gorgeous! Full of rustic wooden tables, hand painted tables and lovely glassware. The lunch was buffet style and full of farm fresh veggies and local meats prepared in a variety of ways – grilled, roasted, braised and fried. And I couldn’t pass up a dessert….or two:I dove into the pot de creme before I took my photo. I seriously need to work on my self control. I did, however, capture a photo of my favorite way to end a meal…coffee. yay!
What fun!
It was great fun! Thanks for stopping by, Mimi!!
